Residents of Cañon City, the third oldest city in the State of Colorado are proud of their history.

From the gold and silver rush in the 1850's, Cañon City has been steeped in Western history. The Fremont County seat since Colorado first became a territory in 1861, this area has witnessed wagon trains, homesteading, farming, railroad wars, mining and milling, the growth of prisons and cultural diversity.

Heritage Days, was started in 2007 to celebrate the wonderful people that came here to start their new lives and to build this city and Fremont County. It's time to recall the colorful Victorian gowns and wardrobes, the gunfights, the rough but simple way of life, the saloons and dance halls, the ranches and cowboys, and the civil war heroes.

Western Heritage Days is a flashback in time for all to enjoy and to learn from.
